Protein Packed Smoothie

Lately I have been noticing that I don't consume a lot of protein. I just don't know how other people do it! I think I am consuming enough and then I check at the end of the day and I am way off.

With the help of some friends in the fitness field, I have learnt to try pack in protein where I can and where is convenient for me. So this recipe brings you a chocolate, healthy, nutritious, protein kick!

I know it's not a vegan dish but it can be easily substituted for a vegan protein powder so by all means try sub the whey for hemp powder -I am sure it will taste just as good.

ps. If you do try it with whey, you will LOVE the creamy consistency. It's heaven!

Protein Packed Smoothie

Ingredients

100g frozen banana (medium sized)

1 scoop (25g) of protein powder (I used whey powder)

2 tsps xylitol

1 Tbsp cacao/cocoa powder

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Sprinkle of sea salt

Water*

Ice

Method

1. Add everything to your blender (please make sure your blender can crush ice) and add a bit of water to the mix (1/3 cup)* with about 6 blocks of ice.

2. Pulse until everything is smooth.

3. Then add in the last 6 cubes of ice with another bit of water and pulse until smooth. You should be left with a creamy, delicious smoothie texture.

4. Pour it into your bowl and top it with anything! Granola, chia seeds, goji berries etc.

*This depends on how watery/creamy you like it. I use just enough water to get the blades to crush the ice because I like mine super creamy.
